English Willow bats are higher quality, perform better, and are preferred by professional players, but they're more expensive. Kashmir Willow bats are more durable and budget-friendly, making them a good choice for beginners or casual players.

Bat grades indicate the quality of the willow used, with Grade 1 being the highest quality. Grade 1 bats have straight, even grains with minimal blemishes, while lower grades have more imperfections and fewer grains. Higher grades generally offer better performance but come at a higher price.

New bats should be oiled 2-3 times before use to prevent cracking and improve performance. After that, oil your bat once or twice a season, or when the wood appears dry. Avoid over-oiling, as this can make the bat heavy and reduce its performance.

The ideal bat weight varies depending on personal preference and playing style. Most adult bats range from 2lb 7oz to 2lb 12oz, with many professional players using bats between 2lb 8oz and 2lb 10oz. It's important to choose a weight that you can comfortably control throughout your innings

A new bat always needs knocking in to compress the fibers and improve performance. If your bat feels "dead" when hitting balls or shows dents easily, it likely needs more knocking in. A well-knocked-in bat will have a slightly hardened surface and produce a crisp sound when striking the ball.

Short handle bats are standard and suit most players. Long handle bats are designed for taller players (typically over 6'2") or those who prefer a longer reach. The choice between short and long handle depends on your height and personal comfort when playing shots.

Store your bat in a cool, dry place and use a bat cover to protect it from moisture. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Regularly check for cracks or damage, and re-oil when the wood appears dry.
